# JSON-RPC API

Calls to Stellar are routed to [partner infrastructure providers](/reference/stellar/#partners-and-privacy-policies).

Infura supports the standard [Stellar RPC methods](https://developers.stellar.org/docs/data/apis/rpc/api-reference/methods).

Pass parameters as a named object. For example, `getTransaction` takes `params.hash`.

XDR fields are base64-encoded strings unless you set `xdrFormat` to `json`. Do not rely on a stable schema for the JSON form, because it changes when the underlying XDR changes.

Stellar RPC keeps a bounded history of recent ledgers. Call [getHealth](/reference/stellar/json-rpc-methods/gethealth/) to read `oldestLedger`, `latestLedger`, and `ledgerRetentionWindow`for the range currently available.
