# Stellar

Calls to Stellar are routed to [partner infrastructure providers](#partners-and-privacy-policies).

Stellar is an open network for payments, asset issuance, and smart contracts. Lumens (XLM) is the native asset.

Infura provides access to the [Stellar RPC JSON-RPC API](/reference/stellar/json-rpc-methods/). Methods include functionality for reading ledger state, simulating smart contract calls, and submitting transactions.

No personal information is sent as part of partner requests, only information necessary to fulfill your API request. This means that Infura's partner service provider can service your request, but not store the content of your request.
