# JSON-RPC API

Infura supports a subset of the [Bitcoin Core RPC methods](https://developer.bitcoin.org/reference/rpc/)for reading blocks, transactions, chain state, and the mempool. The API is read-only: methods that broadcast or validate transactions, such as `sendrawtransaction`and `testmempoolaccept`, aren't available. Neither are wallet, mining, or node administration methods.

To get the hash of the chain tip, read `bestblockhash` from [getblockchaininfo](/reference/bitcoin/json-rpc-methods/getblockchaininfo/).

Pass parameters as a positional array. For example, `getblockhash` takes `params: [height]`.

Amounts are expressed in BTC, not satoshis. Block hashes and transaction IDs are hex-encoded strings in RPC byte order.
